We are seeking a Junior Accountant, but only someone who refuses to settle, who is fearless of pressure and someone who knows how to have fun. You see, Junior Accountants here do more than your typical financial reporting duties. The ideal candidate will work directly with the Victory Square Technologies team, reporting directly to the CFO and controller and at times liaise with our 20+ portfolio companies’ teams, to assist in meeting daily and quarterly financial reporting requirements, which may include assisting with closing procedures, accounting systems planning, expense reporting and bookkeeping, IFRS standards accounting policy research, MD&A preparation, and financial statement preparation.

You Are:

You Have

  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Public company reporting experience using IFRS
  • CPA Designation preferred
  • A post-secondary school diploma/degree (Accounting or Business concentrations an asset)
  • Superior writing and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills: a high proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is essential, and a basic knowledge of G-Suite is an asset

About the Role

Your day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Preparing financial statements and the management discussion and analysis for quarterly and year-end filings.
  • Performing a variety of accounting functions in areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and project accounting in a multi-company, multi-currency environment.
  • Completing consolidation and translation files.
  • Assisting Victory Square management with financial analysis, preparing the analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Monthly variance analysis of corporate costs compared with quarterly forecast and the annual business plan.
  • Assisting with the annual budget and quarterly forecast process for clients.
  • Bookkeeping on special projects for Victory Square and for some regular period-ending closing entries.
  • Assisting with year-end audit planning and liaising with the auditors on behalf of Victory Square.
  • Common complex accounting issues include accounting for acquisitions, stock-based compensation, translations, and consolidations.
  • Bank reconciliations and payments for Victory Square.
